Ernie Barrington: I live in Auckland, New Zealand and although I have always painted, mainly in watercolor, it's only in the past 5 years that I have painted more seriously. In the past I have been interested in still life and landscape, but I felt challenged to do portraits and this has been a big focus for the last two years. The portraits have mainly been of friends and family, but also of students in Auckland who I encounter. I am a self-taught painter, but I learn a lot by looking at the paintings of some great artists.
